Birth Preparation Workshop

education session

Bump, birth and beyond- Preparing your mind, body and pelvic floor!

- Evidence based information and practical education
- Practical skills & tools for labour

The phrase ‘Why didn’t someone tell me??” is all too commonly heard after a woman gives birth to her baby.

Pelvic floor birth preparation sessions aim to ensure you are not one of those women using this phrase after you have had your baby! We want to provide you with a comprehensive evidence-based education surrounding labour, birth & recovery.

With the overall goal to empower women to better understand the physiology of birth and ask questions, ultimately improving their birth experience and minimising physical, emotional mental birth trauma.

  1. Enhance knowledge on pelvic floor anatomy and the role of the pelvic floor during birth.

  2. Improve pelvic floor awareness, flexibility, and relaxation to better prepare the body for labour.

  3. Learn practical skills and explore various non-pharmacologic tools you may utilise during labour to help with the management of pain.

  4. Effective ways to reduce physical birth trauma to the pelvic floor and perineum.

  5. Education and practise of a variety of birth positions to minimise birth trauma and reduce the length of the second stage of labour. Also understand how to modify birth positions to suit each woman.

  6. Education on early postpartum care to enhance your recovery following childbirth for both vaginal and caesarean births.

  7. Ensure women feel ‘in control’ of their pregnancy/birth and informed enough to make educated decisions about their care and ADVOCATE for themselves.
