Obstetric TENS Machine (hire only)

$115.00

What is obstetric TENS?

Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) uses a small battery-operated unit to provide a non-invasive, natural form of pain relief without medication during labour.

Mild electrical impulses are transmitted through the skin via surface electrodes to modify the body’s pain perception.

Electrodes are placed on your mid to lower back and top of your gluteal muscles, which are connected to the machine.

Why would using a TENS machine be beneficial?

✔️Obstetric TENS can be used whilst labouring at home and also when in hospital to help manage your pain.

✔️TENS provides you with a way to feel like you have some control when it comes to pain relief during labor.

✔️ Utilises the pain gate theory- the electrical signals from the TENS travel to the spinal cord where they temporarily block the transmission of pain sensations to the brain.

If insufficient pain relief is achieved with the Obstetric TENS unit, then you can complement this with small amounts of alternative analgesia or other methods of natural pain relief.
